alexina“Wherever the art of medicine is loved, there is also a love of humanity.” –Hippocrates

Life can be a sacred and meaningful adventure or a mechanical existence. Acknowledging the infinite possibility and creative potential within each of points to the art of medicine. If we choose to answer the call, our experiences in health can guide us into deeper knowledge and wisdom about ourselves. However, these experiences can also take one into more suffering, illness and self destruction. In each moment, we have a great power that no one can give us or take away from us – the power to listen, and to choose to connect to the light. This light is where hope, compassion, gratitude, humility, kindness and all other virtues live.

Alexina Mehta is inspired by her work each day and is passionate to serve the health and well-being of others. She encountered yoga and the spiritual traditions at a young age and is fascinated with the possibilities of human potential. Interestingly, Her great grandfather, R.B. Lal Singh Mehta was on a team who discovered the oldest printed book ever found on earth so far, called The Diamond Sutras. The book teaches about enlightenment and compassion. These teachings are an important part of Dr. Mehta’s life.

alex2She began her post-secondary education at Queens University where she studied Life Sciences and ran on the varsity cross country and track and field teams. She continued her undergraduate degree in Human Kinetics from the University of British Columbia, and became a fitness expert at a young age. As a varsity cross country runner, she cultivated an attitude of perseverance and resilience which now contributes to her ability to support others in their health. At a young age, she overcame a serious illness by teaching herself about healing, which required thinking outside of the box.

Dr. Mehta has a thriving practice in Kitsilano, Vancouver with a focus on family medicine, women’s health, hormone imbalances, pediatrics, digestive health, weight loss, sports performance, mind-body awareness and chronic disease. She brings an inspirational, uplifting, refreshing and innovative approach to natural medicine.
