SWAMIJI – Global Peace Leader and Humanitarian, Founder, World Peace Council and Yoga in Daily Life.

His message is simple and powerful – inner peace for world peace. His Holiness, Paramhans Swami Maheshwarananda, known simply as Swamiji, is a one of the world’s foremost proponents of peace and a renowned humanitarian. For 40 years, Swamiji has pioneered interfaith dialogues and meetings throughot the world in order to establish global harmony amongst religions and nations. He initiated annual International Peace Summits and founded a World Peace Council. Yoga in Daily Life is a non-profit organization in roster Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations. Swamiji was invited to speak at the UN Millennium Peace Summit in NY, in Barcelona at the UN sponsored Interfaith Education conference and at the UN World Summit on Sustainable Development. His deep understanding of the problems of modern life inspired him to create Yoga in Daily Life, an accessible, comprehensive and authentic system of yoga practiced by millions of people in thousands of locations across 30 countries. The system is an acknowledged diplomatic course in overseas universities, and is taught in schools and hospitals for physical rehabilitation. He teaches that individual balance and harmony will help us better understand others and improve social relationships in a greater context, contributing to a balanced, conflict-free society. Swamiji’s books are published in 11 languages.

Some of Swamiji’s humanitarian projects include:
• 2008 World Peace Tour – During his world-wide wide annual tour, Swamiji spreads his message, “Inner Peace for World Peace.” He teaches that personal and worldwide peace can be attained through a modern, realistic approach to yoga. The U.S. tour highlights include a visit to the United Nations and participation in events during International Peace Week, September 20th – 30th .

• Annual World Peace Summit – These international leadership forums initiated by Swamiji are focused on achieving peace, justice, tolerance and an environmentally sustainable world. At the World Peace Council, Swamiji continues the message of Mahatma Gandhi, “Be the change you want to see.”

•  OM Ashram Education and Research Center– Swamiji’s largest venture establishes spiritual education and environmental sustainability centers servicing local communities.

Born in rural Rajasthan, India, His Holiness Swamiji met his spiritual Master at age thirteen. Through rigorous study under Paramhans Swami Madhavananda, known as Holy Guruji, Swamiji attained the state of self-realization at age seventeen. In 1970, he moved from India to Europe to spread the teachings of yoga. Swamiji has a unique ability to reconcile the ethereal aspect of spirituality with a practical, down-to-earth approach. Audiences are drawn to his lucid and relatable explanations of the mind, psyche and the hidden strength contained within the human consciousness. His Holiness has received awards from leaders and heads of state who have expressed their thanks to him for advancing the spiritual, social, physical and mental health of their citizens. A citizen of the world and an Ambassador of Peace, Swamiji works tirelessly to spread his message of love, non-violence, tolerance and protection of all life on this planet.
