This week on CLR, our guests are Jenna Card, Certified Nonviolent Communication Trainer and Trevor Warren, Registered Clinical Counselor. They are an inspiring couple who powerfully embody a healthy, passionate, real-life intimate partnership. From the moment we are born, touch is essential to our surviving and thriving. Skin, our body’s largest organ, is made of millions of nerve fibres all of which respond exquisitely to touch. One of our 5 senses, touch is how we physically experience the world and as one of the 5 love languages, touch can be an essential way we give and receive love. In relationships, touch is an essential component of bonding and intimacy. In fact, sensual touch that is present, embodied and masterful can make the difference between mundane sex and transcendent sex. These three characteristics make up the pillars of sensual touch:

Presence – body, mind and spirit – how present are you when giving and receiving touch?
Embodied – how fully can you inhabit your body? your breath? how aware of and connected to your sensory experience are you? to your sensuality and pleasure?
Masterful – what is in your sensual touch toolkit and how artfully can you use those tools? how attuned are you with yourself and your lover? do you have the communication skills to advocate for what you and they want and don’t want?
