It comes from the Japanese words “rei” (universal) and “ki” (life energy). Reiki is a type of energy healing. Energy healing targets the energy fields around the body.
This is an opportunity to renew your reiki skills if you’ve been away from it for a while or share you skills with those who are new to reiki. It’s not traditional to hold all levels at once, but these are strange times we are living in and there is so much pain in the world right now. There truly isn’t time to waste for those of you who feel called to step into your life’s purpose and learn how to share reiki. Reiki is an ancient incredibly powerful yet simple form of channeling universal energy for the specific purpose of affecting the well being of others. This workshop will also look at ways of becoming more empathic, as well using different shamanic practices and sound healing techniques to help in your healing practice. Register now to ensure your spot!Workshop will be held over a weekend. Communal Accommodation provided including meals and light snacks. Come enjoy our five acre slice of heaven, commune with our rescue horses and dogs and sing and maybe dance and definitely drum.
I am so looking forward to seeing you. – Cynthia Joy
According to practitioners, energy can stagnate in the body where there has been physical injury or possibly emotional pain. In time, these energy blocks can cause illness. Energy medicine aims to help the flow of energy and remove blocks in a similar way to acupuncture or acupressure. Improving the flow of energy around the body, say practitioners, can enable relaxation, reduce pain, speed healing, and reduce other symptoms of illness.
Reiki has been around for thousands of years. Its current form was first developed in 1922 by a Japanese Buddhist called Mikao Usui, who reportedly taught 2,000 people the Reiki method during his lifetime. The practice spread to the U.S. through Hawaii in the 1940s, and then to Europe in the 1980s.
It is commonly referred to as palm healing or hands-on healing.
Reiki is best held in a peaceful setting, but it can be carried out anywhere. The patient will sit in a comfortable chair or lie on a table, fully clothed. There may or may not be music, depending on the patient’s preference.
The practitioner places their hands lightly on or over specific areas of the head, limbs, and torso using different hand shapes, for between 2 and 5 minutes. The hands can be placed over 20 different areas of the body. If there is a particular injury, such as a burn, the hands may be held just above the wound.
While the practitioner holds their hands lightly on or over the body, the transfer of energy takes place. During this time, the practitioner’s hands may be warm and tingling. Each hand position is held until the practitioner senses that the energy has stopped flowing. When the practitioner feels that the heat, or energy, in their hands has abated, they will remove their hands and may place them over a different area of the body.
Some Reiki techniques The techniques involved have names such as: centering clearing beaming extracting harmful energies infusing smoothing and raking the aura Some Reiki practitioners will use crystals and chakra healing wands, because they find these can enable healing .
My name is Cynthia. I’ve spent most of my life as a professional musician and a care giver and teacher in one form or another. I’ve been practising and teaching Reiki since 1998 and went on to take e several other modalities of energy medicine. I am also a reflexologist and have training in essential oil therapy, sound therapy, quantum touch, theraputic touch and recently completed my Somatic Psychedelic Therapist training. I grew up on a farm on the prairies and despite common beliefs I grew up believing in magic and miracles and talking to angels and other spirits. Part of what I now also share is teaching how to recognize and communicate with loved ones in spirit. And yes, I was considered to be an extremely weird kid and yes I think I caused my parents more than just a little concern. I left the prairies and settled on the West Coast. Thank goodness. Because here I am no crazier than anyone else! I’ve always believed that we all have the ability to channel an energy that is beyond our own and has the ability to facilitate great change for those we work with. Connecting with Reiki was truly the moment my life changed forever. It is my great pleasure to share this most ancient and sacred wisdom that is known as Reiki. There is not one single soul on the planet that can not share reiki. It’s simple it’s easy and it’s available to all. It is in fact your birth right.
