The founder of The Inspiration Centre, Clasina van Bemmel, was born in the Netherlands and immigrated to Canada in 1975 after working and traveling around the world. In 1999 Clasina was in the Squamish area and noticed a large piece of empty land for sale and felt called to purchase the land for some special yet unknown purpose. It took another thirteen years of spiritual growth and various challenges to envision the creation of a non-denominational spiritual community to be housed on this land and to turn the vision into reality. Clasina intends to live, work, learn and share with other like-minded people in The Inspiration Centre for many years to come.
Clasina’s own spiritual journey has included meeting her spiritual teacher Amma (amma.org) during a visit to India in 2002. Amma is known as “the hugging saint”, blessing thousands of people every day with her Darshan, her sacred embrace. Clasina describes her life of challenges, work, travels and spiritual path in her book, “Eating Sugarcane: A Spiritual Journey”. Amma”s unconditional love and compassion have enabled Clasina to develop the concepts and practical plans for The Inspiration Centre. Clasina respects the diversity of spiritual paths, and looks forward to sharing a life of simplicity, contemplation, spiritual practice and service with other soul seekers from many different traditions. 10:45-11:15 am Rev. Terry O’Shea (Centre for Spiritual Living – White Rock) will give anoverview of CSL and how anaffiliation between CSL, The Centre residents,and the community of Squamish could be a benefit to all involved.
11:15 – 12 noon Clasina van Bemmel will facilitate a discussion on next steps.
