Richard Hahn,

Growing up in BC, I started to accelerate my own personal development around 1999. The reality was, I wanted something different than what I currently was living and knew that involved making changes. I did not fully know how to create that change or where to start but it started with a decision, some courage, and then the act of taking a step! Take one step and the next bridge appears.

From that point on, I used the bridge building process in my life. I went from playing it safe to taking risks – risks that allowed me to change life rather dramatically. Travelling to places like India and Costa Rica widened my exposure to the diversity of life. I took workshops and joined leadership groups while exploring my deep fascination with meditation and the use of vibrational music and forms of creative expression. I began to cultivate my unique rhythm of life along with my dreams. Although I grew up in a family of electricians, I knew I was deeply passionate about working with others and the call to counsel grew stronger and stronger!

Life is Process, Not Destination

Becoming a counsellor is a journey in itself. I took leadership and personal development workshops and after a few years, assisted others in those same workshops! I went to three years of intense experiential counsellor training at the Clearmind International Institute and spent some years in the engaging process of mentoring others.

What accelerated my own life was joining a men’s personal development team and an international organisation called ‘Teen Journey’. My focus shifted from my own development to that of helping others. By mentoring teens and working with fascinating facilitators from around the world, my world has transitioned and opened beyond my own expectations. In the middle of these experiences I transformed. I am a different me then the one who began the journey over a decade ago. It puts profound meaning to the phrase “life is a process, not a destination”.

Blue Skies Counselling

This all brings me back to working with others in my own counselling practice and those first steps. The power of choice, courage, connection and change has allowed me to find my own unique interpretation of a life with blue skies.

Those blue skies are in both my outer experience and in my own inner mind while I continue to approach my struggles. What I now recognize and teach is that each natural transition of life is full of information, clues, and experiences that ready us perfectly for the full potential of the life right in front of us NOW! Counselling is a deeply rewarding career of supporting others like you to discover your full potential. When you get that true first glimpse of your own potential, from that point on, “the sky is the limit”!
