*DESCRIPTIONS*****
Class 1 – An Overview of the Divinities
Jeffrey Armstrong brings the images of ancient India to life and illuminates the hidden meanings behind the Vedic (Hindu) Divinities. The “so-called” Gods & Goddess of India are various stages of realization and “role models” for our world – many are aspects of the forces of nature.

Class 2 – The 3 Divine Couples
In the Vedas they are personified as Brahma the Creator, Vishnu the Maintainer and Shiva the Destroyer – along with their feminine counterparts – Saraswati, Lakshmi, & Durga. These three couples were never conceived as three competing Gods but as three aspects of the one Supreme Being who is manifest in the past, present and future of material Nature. Think of the English word GOD is an acronym for: Generation, Organization, and Destruction. Even though all three are necessary for life to exist in the realm of matter, the sustaining principle most clearly represents the ongoing Divine desire for the happiness and continuation of all life. Jeffrey also elaborated on the role of the “gunas” in this class – Tamas, Rajas & Sattva.

Class 3 – Ram & Sita
The Ramayana is one of the largest ancient epics in world literature. It consists of nearly 24,000 verses. It depicts the duties of relationships, portraying ideal characters like the ideal father, the ideal servant, the ideal brother, the ideal husband and the ideal king. Sita is the main female character in the Hindu epic poem, the “Ramayana,” and is an incarnation of Lakshmi, while Rama is the central male character and an incarnation of Vishnu. In yogic meditation, the yogi can invoke the qualities of this divine couple by chanting the Sita Ram mantra. Rama was a prince of the greatest kingdom on Earth, Kosala. Sita was a princess who was born from the Earth. Sita’s beauty surpassed all ladies in all three worlds – One day, Ravana, the horrendous Demon King of Lanka, came to their cottage, and kidnapped Sita while Rama went to fetch a golden deer. It was all part of Ravana’s evil plan. Ravana took Sita to Lanka and demanded that she give into his desires. Sita firmly stood her ground and said she would always remain faithful to Rama. This is the ultimate story of virtue, love and good battling evil.
