Since September of the year 2000, Harold Rosen has been designing and teaching courses on world religion for both community and university audiences. His aim is to facilitate interfaith understanding and cooperation, as well as to provide hope for humanity’s spiritual progress. From his classroom experience and research, he has developed a lengthy manuscript on the common patterns in the lives and teachings of Moses, Zoroaster, Krishna, Buddha, Jesus, Muhammad and Baha’u’llah.

As a Community Interfaith Educator, Harold Rosen has taught an average of ten courses each year, for modest fees. Among the questions addressed in these courses are: How did the major religions originate?… What are the foundational teachings of the world religions?… What are the most essential themes of the world’s scriptures?… What principles are shared by the world religions as a whole?… What are the main variations of belief and practice within each major religion?… How have the various faith traditions evolved across the ages?… What issues have posed the greatest obstacles to interfaith understanding and cooperation?… What are the most promising procedures in bi-lateral interfaith relations?… How might the world religions contribute to world peace?

Upcoming Courses:

“HUMANITY’S SPIRITUAL EVOLUTION”

Sponsor: Unitarian Adult Religious Education Program
Course Description:

How have humanity’s higher capacities developed during our time on earth? What figures and forces have generated and fostered our unfolding powers? Why has our spiritual evolution been conceived with such stunning variety across the ages? Three major Traditions have offered helpful and intriguing approaches to these questions – Religion, Spiritual Wisdom, and Science. The contents of these Traditions have been viewed as parallel, as convergent, and as divergent. Today, however, these three Traditions seem to be dovetailing. In this interdisciplinary 8-session course, Religion will be interpreted as revelatory teachings and practices; Spiritual Wisdom as esoteric or hidden insights and techniques; and Science as ever more refined methods of observation, deduction and control. Participants will be invited to examine and discuss the main outlines of all three Traditions, and to explore some possibilities of their integration.
