“In the Messiah there are no pure or impure, Jew or Greek, man or woman, slave or free person, past or future, east or west, because in Him all things rest and are unified in love”
Ontogony began in 1976 as an experiment to explore and find the most effective ways to liberation accessible in our present time.
For this exploration we started with the following premises:
1. The old spiritual traditions are disappearing or suffering important changes in order to survive at this time.
2. The planet is going through a globalization process in all aspects, including the spiritual one. This universalization of knowledge may dilute it in such a way that we may lose a great part of our spiritual heritage. This danger seems evident when we frequently find in the so called “New Age” movement a significant number of charlatans and superficial teachings, as well as a very large spiritual market offering all types of true or false teachings.
3. In its positive aspect this globalization may take us to a Messianic era where we can expect great benefits for all.
4. A great part of the work in Ontogony has been to rescue spiritual practices and intents which are in danger of extinction, emphasizing those that are profound and practical for our lifestyle.
5. This has been primarily done by finding adequate teachers and by learning directly from them wherever possible.
6. After we learn something we try to reinterpret it in a more universal model constructing with all of them a messianic supermodel that encompasses all those models.
7. Everything we have learned, practiced and taught we have always considered an approximation to reality, a model, never an absolute truth.
8. In Ontogony all models are utilized, improved, discarded or integrated to a more complex model. Truth can only be experienced directly by the individual. Therefore, we take all traditions as models of explanation created in a place, moment and specific culture, and although they may contain universal truths, no tradition is absolutely universal, least of all infallible.
9. In Ontogony we emphasize the practice based in love and wisdom. An academic spirit is appreciated but it is not considered indispensable.
10. We believe that the final goal is to practice in Divine Grace, consciously experiencing our True Nature.
11. Ontogony is thus a continuous flow of search, research, practice and teachings.
12. In Ontogony it is indispensable to share knowledge with others and, wherever possible, to invite practitioners to learn directly from more than one teacher from different traditions. We also consider of great help to the student to hear, first hand, teachings from pure lineages to better appreciate them.
13. Ontogony is “spiritual hacking” meaning by this that we try to liberate spiritual information, without harming anyone, and making it accessible to everybody with guidance so it may be used in a rational and compassionate manner.
All these years we have concretized study into 11 areas of knowledge, including in each one of them several schools or spiritual lineages. We consider each one of these areas as appropriate vehicles for liberation.
These 11 areas are:Shamanism
- Shamanism
- Healing
- Tantra
- Psychotherapy
- Kaula
- Taoism
- Mahayoga
- Vajrayana
- Martial Arts
- Kabbalah
- Ontogony
