Part #2 of the Health And Wellness Show Series

A Multi-Faceted Woman Kareen Zebroff believes in conquering many medium-large mountains, rather than just one high (nearly unattainable) one. Fans and lecture audiences have urged her for years to share with individuals, in her own offices, the wide-spectrum knowledge she has acquired during the last 40 years through her various studies in Health and the Mind-Body Connection (based on GNM), her varied life-experience, and her intuitive talents. As a result, she has finally decided to hang out her shingle as a …
Life-Skills Consultant, where she applies her expert knowledge to the Mind-Body Connection of such concerns as: * Aging Gracefully * The Expression of Vibrant Good Health * Mental Clarity & Focus * Memory * Deep Relaxation * Stress * Anxiety * Sleep * Weight-Issues * Aches & Pains * A healty, affordable Diet * Menus & Recipes * Energy-Work * Grounding yourself (and others) when Fearful & Panicky * Protecting Yourself from Energy-Drainers in your life (realtives? 🙂  * Basic Yoga & Breathing * In-spiration * Gratitude & Prayer. That is now, but over the years she has acquired more and more experience and common-sense wisdom as a …
School-teacher. Kareen started her education at the University of BC with the ambition of becoming a UN interpreter (thus getting to travel a lot). Having spoken German since birth, she studied French for a total of 9 years, English for 8, Latin for 3, Spanish for 2, Geography and New Math for 1 year each (UBC made her do it), as well as Russian for 2 years – including a notable summer-session, during which she met her future husband Peter Zebroff (B.A., M.Ed.). She immediately changed her studies to Education, and became a grade VII teacher, and soon thereafter …
Mother of three remarkable daughters – Sylvie (M.Special Ed.), Tanya (M.Ed. in Developing Countries: Health Promotion) working with AIDS and HIV, and Petra (B.A. Psych, M.Public Health., Dr. of Human Sexuality). Kareen has had to move house 12 times during her 48-year marriage, in order that her husband might more easily climb up the educational career-ladder — especially so, in the beginning. With their three little girls in tow, she had had to come “cold” every year or two into small communities where she knew no one. The smallest of these was the dam-town of Hudsons Hope, BC, where Kareen first began to practice Hatha Yoga upon the suggestion of her mother, who had been taking meditation lessons during a tough menopause. Mom’s immediate success with Yoga inspired the dispirited and overweight young mother to become a …
Yogini. On the one book-rack in the two-store town Kareen had discovered Jess Stern’s “Yoga, Youth and Reincarnation” about the eminent Yogini Marcia Moore — an author of many tomes on Yoga and Astrology, who was later to become her great friend, teacher and mentor. Having done some elementary gymnastics in Phys.Ed. in private-school in Heidelberg, knowing how to lesson-plan as a grade Vii teacher, and being of the flexible mesomorph body-type, Kareen had had no trouble teaching herself from this book. She soon felt the need seriously to study Yoga, however, with such renowned gurus as Indra Devi, Marcia Moore, Swami Shyam Acharya. Encouraged by them to begin teaching Yoga, she continued to educate herself about Yoga, Nutrition (Certified Nutrition Counsellor, ’86) under Dr. John Black, Energy-work, German New Medicine (GNM), Brain State Training (BST), EFT, NLP and many other modalities and adjunctive esoteric subjects. Eventually, she was to become an …
Author of 10 highly successful Yoga and Nutrition books in 16 languages, brought out in the beginning by the couple’s own publishing company, in which she acted as editor for 10 years. Her first book, the classic ‘ABC OF YOGA’ was eventually to become #2 on the “Spiegel” bestseller list and to sell well over a million-and-a-half copies — now available under the British title “A GENTLE INTRODUCTION TO YOGA’. All the while, she had however been hankering to get back to being an …
Actor. Kareen had started acting in high-school under the tutelage of the eminent drama-teacher Tom Kerr and began to act again in amateur-theatre throughout the Lower Mainland when the children were young. Soon landing lead-roles, she moved on to acting in College, Professional Readings at Brock House (UBC), appearing at the Fringe, in the professional “Open Theatre Company”, and at the Waterfront Theatre on Granville Island. She ended up winning two “Best Actress” awards in the Vancouver BC Drama Festival – both of them in “two-handers” (two actors doing a full-length play). In “Dearly Beloved”, she portrayed the actress Stella Campbell over her 36-year platonic relationship with George Bernard Shaw. In “Memoir”, she played the 76-year-old French actress Sarah Bernhard with a “wooden” leg (a hockey-pad to knock on), reproducing Sarah’s own stage-roles as Hamlet, Camille and Phaedra (in French). A natural sequitor to acting and teaching Yoga was to become a…
… Network TV-host/Interviewer of her own “Yoga and Nutrition” show for 16 years in Canada, and for nearly 3 years in Germany; a TV-actor in such shows as “Beachcombers”, “Danger Bay”, and “McGyver”; and, a film-actor in made-for-TV movies (Victoria Principal), and mainstream movies (John Travolta). Eventually she decided to start indulging her real passion of being a …
Writer of fiction. Having studied Creative Writing at UBC, Kareen had been writing for most of her life. Writing-courses by well-established writers like Elizabeth George and Paul St. Pierre. With two fictional manuscripts in a drawer, she is in the process of re-writing, upon the request of her agent, one of her finished novels from letter-form into the usual prose form. Just at present, however, she is taking time out to pen her eleventh book — “Great Sex through Yoga” — with her daughter, Dr. Petra Zebroff. During all those years she was a…
Lecturer (30 years) and Columnist (2½ years) in Common Ground magazine on a variety of subjects on “Wholistic Health of Body, Mind and Spirit”, and has recently focused on a series of Talks on “Graceful Aging through Yoga and the latest Breakthroughs in Nutrition” (e.g. Cell-regeneration, Fat-loss, Great Sex, etc.). Kareen also loves to relax as a …
“Grammy” to her three beloved grand-children Megan, James and Tashia who lives in far-away Tanzania, where we have visited her four times. For balance, Kareen is an enthusiastic reader and writer; an opera, chamber-music and movie fan; a play-goer; a cook; a sewer and knitter; a skier, walker and hiker; a tennis-player; a swimmer, canoeist and kayaker; and a lucky member of a marvelously supportive group of old and new friends.
