Join me, Marc Caron as I speak with Dr. Devon Christie, a family physician with a focused practice in Multidisciplinary Pain Management, working here in Vancouver at CHANGEpain Clinic.  Devon is also a Registered Therapeutic Counsellor, with training in Relational Somatic Therapy for trauma resolution.

Listen in as we talk about Innovations in Healhcare that have been a result of COVID-19, that have enabled CHANGEpain to deliver a full curriculum virtual group medical visits – covered under provincial healthcare –  on a range of topics that are designed to empower patients in self-care, healing and prevention – such as yoga, mindfulness, healing after trauma

1) Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)

– what is it? what is it good for / how do people benefit?

– why it is so fundamentally important that we learn and practice mindfulness in our present times, now more than ever

2) Healing After Trauma

– what is it? what is it good for / how do people benefit?

– how some patient’s experiences anecdotally with the program being creating thus far

– explain why this in particular is such a needed innovation in our healthcare system (psychotherapy isn’t covered, epidemic levels of trauma)

3) Kundalini Yoga

– yoga has a lot of evidence in peer reviewed literature for numerous health benefits

– Devon’s history as a yoga teacher, and her experience with how kundalini yoga has helped in her own recovery (from brain injury, chronic back pain, PTSD) which is why she was inspired to do her teacher training.

– Devon has always dreamed of offering yoga to my patients, as an MD.
