Food is not the Problem: Deal With What Is!

Michelle Morand is a counselor, author and educator, specializing in the field of eating disorders and related concerns for the past 15 years.

If you or someone you know struggles with a stressful relationship with food, the question “Why can’t I just stop!?” has probably come up. It is very frustrating to have a pattern of behaviour that you know doesn’t serve you and yet be unable to stop it for any consistent length of time.  Understanding why you do what you do is the first step in creating lasting change with any unwanted pattern of behaviour.  Without that knowledge, any change you make will be short lived as it is done more from sheer will (which only lasts so long) than from true understanding and self-love (which lasts a lifetime!).

Once we understand the “why” we can then turn to the “what now?” What Now, refers to tools and skills we need to begin to change our harmful patterns of behaviour in such a way that allows us to know, on a gut level, that these changes are lasting and secure.

In this presentation, Michelle Morand, counselor, speaker and author will share her successful approach to supporting men and women to heal from their stressful relationships with food and body image. You will gain a clear understanding of why people get caught up in using food to cope (or any other harmful coping strategy such as alcohol, drugs, procrastination or isolation) and you will also gain some of the key tools in supporting yourself or others to shift their old ways of being to new, life enhancing and, most significantly, lasting ones.
